I’ve been adopted!
Age: 1.5 years
Gender: Male
Wiley is adorable. He came to his foster home yesterday from adoption day. He was a bit nervous through this morning, but after some cuddles and breakfast he finally relaxed. Wiley is enjoying the yard and playing with his foster brothers. Wiley is a little guy – probably about 22-23 pounds – but is holding his own with the other dogs. Wiley is definitely food motivated, but took his time eating his dinner and breakfast. He does aspire to counter surfing, but his size will keep it from becoming a reality. Wiley was quiet in his kennel last night and hasn’t shown signs of being a barker. But we’re still in the first 24 hours, so . . . .Wiley, 1.5 yr old small, under 20lbs, neutered male beagle, friendly and gets along well with other dogs. He was a stray at the Louisa Co. Animal Shelter so his history is unknown.

Here is Gayle….snuffling up the back yard when she first came to us and here she is playing “tug o’ squirrel” with our Rattler “Bacall”, also from BREW. Gayle has only been with us for 3 days but here is what I know about her. She was a bit growly when she first came here….but she was tired, stressed and overwhelmed. Since then …. She seems to be house trained. Only one accident on the floor because it was raining so hard yesterday none of the dogs would go out. Gayle and Rattler play, play, play play….up, down, over and around. Gayle just loves everybody….all puppy tails and wiggles. She’s a bit curious about the cats but pretty much leaves them alone….she’d rather be playing with Rattler. Gayle and Rattler sleep together in the crate at night. All in all…..she’s a great pup but a beagle for sure. Up, down, over around here and there and everywhere…..the baby gates don’t stop her…she can jump like a deer. She found the grandkid’s toy box and started a “puppy stash” of stuffed animals. My only concern about her is that I think she could easily jump a fence if she decided to. Otherwise….I can’t say enough good things about her.Gayle is a small female under 20lbs, 1.5 yrs old, friendly, good with other dogs but was a stray at Louisa Co. Animal Shelter so her history is unknown

I’ve been adopted!
Gender: F
Age: 3-4
Hyacinth is a very sweet and affectionate dog. Her favorite place to be is snuggled up next to somebody on the couch on a lazy afternoon.
She gets along very well with other dogs, but would do just as well in a home without other pets.
She loves all people, including children, and greets everyone with a kiss.
She has obviously been in a house at sometime in her life before because she is house trained, and has not once tried to go the the bathroom in the house. She also knows how to sit and what “off” means.
She rides well in the car and walks well on the leash, and will potty quickly on her walks, so she can get back inside to snuggle. She is crate trained as well, though she does whine for a few minutes when she is first put in her crate, however she quiets down quickly.
She is pretty quiet for a beagle, only barking when one of our other dogs starts barking, and again quiets down quickly. She loves to be outside, but only if there is a human to play with her and give her attention, and one of her favorite things to do outside is roll around and around in the grass.

I’ve Been Adopted!
Age: 2-3 years
Gender: Female
Hi, I am Cupid. I have been with my foster family for 2 weeks and I am having so much fun. I am a very happy little girl and my tail is always wagging. My foster mom says that it looks like I smile. I enjoy hanging with my 2 foster beagle brothers and my foster beagle sister and I also have a foster Golden Retriever brother. We all get along really good.
I love to play with my toys but there are times when I also like to get my foster mom’s flip flops and run around with them. She tells me no. Same goes for my foster dad’s sneakers. Guess I better stick to my toys and bones.
I love sitting with my humans and I have even started to sleep with them. I really like being near people who love me. It makes me feel safe.
I am learning to walk nicer on a leash. But there are so many scents out there that I want to just run all over the place. But I am learning.
Good news is that I keep my crate clean and dry all day. I have had a few accidents in the house but I pretty much know where I must go potty.
As much as I like it here, I would really like to find my own forever home.
Cupid is a 2-3yr old liver tri-color female that weighs around 18lbs. She is very friendly and good with other dogs but was a stray in Louisa Co. so her history is unknown.

Adoption Pending!
Age: 2-3
Gender: Female
Update 3/6/12 Bisquick is a happy, playful little doll. She has settled into a daily routine which is topped off at night by exurberant play — dashing around with her foster brother, tossing and tugging on her stuffed toys! After all that exhausting play, she likes to sit next her adoring “humans” on the couch, or at their feet, snuggled up close. And wonder of wonders: She has learned to “do her business” outside. No accidents in the house for a week! She is amazingly smart, sweet natured and gentle. She is less and less worried about the noises and people outdoors on the walk but still has that nose-to-the-ground beagle-on-the-hunt posture. It is so great to see her having fun, maybe for the first time in her life!
Update for 2-27: What a difference a day makes! Bisquick is running up and down the stairs and all around, romping with my tubby male beagle, Buddy, who could use the exercise. They are tossing toys and playing wildly and having a great time. Bisquick has come out of her shell!
Update 2-26: A lot of TLC has paid off for Bisquick! She is so much more relaxed inside the house and out. She comes to her food bowl and water without prompting and plays out in the yard without the intense anxiety she had last week. She is learning how to relax on the leash and enjoy the great outdoors. She is still quite alert to cars and loud noises and strangers, but she has greatly improved from a week ago. She also has kept her crate clean for several days, and now has hours on end when she can be trusted to lie around with her foster brother, outside her crate.
Bisquick will be a sweet loving family member in a calm home with a yard where she can romp and play like a beagle!
Holy cow is Bisquick adorable! I mean, seriously, how do beagles actually get this cute?
Bisquick is doing really well! She loves the comfort of her cozy crate and goes in without prompting. She is so cuddly and sweet natured; she has not made a sound yet, not a bark or whine or anything. She sleeps quietly all night in her crate, which is clean in the morning. She loves to be petted and will sit in front of me and wag her tail now, which she wouldn’t do at first because she was so shy.
She loves to go outside and has that typical nose-to-the-ground beagle walk. She is a little skittish still, sensitive and alert to people and sounds around her. She is comfortable in the house, but outside she is clearly afraid of cars and loud noises and other people. She is comforted when I stop and pull her closer and pet her when she gets scared.
Bisquick will need a quiet environment with reassurance and love in her permanent home. She is as smart as she can be. Boy, is she quick to learn! But more than that, she is so easy to love.
