Hot Rod is a new member of the BREW pack. He came to us from the Planned Pethood shelter in Rocky Mount, Virginia.  Hot Rod is a little guy who weighs in at a solid 22 pounds.  He is very energetic (of course he’s been living in a crate!) as can be expected of a 1 year young beagle.  He loves people and seems OK with big dogs.  He met a Cane Corso at the vet’s office (who had to outweigh him by 60 pounds) and they got along fine.  He is fully vetted.

Jolly, 2-3yr old spayed female, fully vetted and looking for a howling good time!!!  She is very friendly and affectionate, good with people and other dogs but was a stray in Culpepper, VA so her history is unknown.

Snoopy, 1yr neutered male, fully vetted and excited about getting a home!!!  He appears to be house-trained and chases balls but was a stray in Culpepper, VA so his history is unknown.

Gender: Female

Belinda is red and white and 14.5 pounds. She will look much better when she gets up to 17 or so. She is very outgoing and wants to interact with all people and dogs. She was housed with Harriet and another dog at her temporary foster home and they even ate from the same bowl. They came to BREW from Halifax County Virginia. Both girls walk well on lead and do their potty business on lead.

They traveled, uncrated, for 5 1/2 hours to get to the vet and left the seat clean and dry. Mostly they just cuddled up together and slept. No whining, no barking.

I’ve Been Adopted!

Age: 1-2 years

Gender: Male

Cedar, 1-2 yr old neutered male beagle, fully vetted.  He is a small beagle boy, weighing 19lbs.  He is friendly, fairly low key, gets along great with other dogs and good with children.  He was a stray in Orange Co. so his history is unknown.

Graham is a real sweetheart.  He came home from adoption day with me on Saturday and was a little overwhelmed at his change in circumstances.  He started out nervous about coming inside the house – running up to the deck when called and then stopping a few feet from the door and dropping into a low crawl and stopping in his tracks.  But this morning he made the leap to coming in on his own.  Graham will come to me for pets, but will retreat if foster brother Rico tries to join in the fun.  Rico is a bit exuberant, and Graham isn’t quite ready for that yet.  He loves exploring the yard and has already claimed a favorite napping spot.  Graham was quiet overnight in the kennel, has done his business outside, and does not gobble his food.

Graham is a 2yr old neuterd male beagle.  He is friendly and playful, good with other dogs but was a stray at Louisa Co. Animals Shelter so his history is unknown.

Squirt, 2-3yrd old, fully vetted, small 20lb beagle boy that is friendly but not 100% confident.  He is great with other dogs.  He was a stray in Amelia Co. so his history is unknown.

This is Cranberry, one of two girls from the Thanksgiving litter. She is lovely with a splash of white on her face.

She and her siblings need a family to call our own. Maybe that’s you??

Lucky is a small and friendly beagle boy that is around 1yr of age.  He gets along well with people and other dogs.  He was a stray in Culpeper so his history is unknown.

Here are some words from the wonderful lady who found Marley running and took care of her for a while until Marley came to BREW:

She came to us after I tried diligently to find her owner; she was emaciated and covered with ticks.

Anyway, in the 3 months we had her, we have observed that she is a very laid back dog, loves adults and children, gets along well with other animals.  She loves to go for daily walks..and enjoyed the twice daily 1.5 mile walks I gave her.  My neighbor taught her to heel (when she’s focused) and sit.

Did I mention that she has been crated trained!  We  put a crate in the house and when given the command, Marley went in it without any hesitation!  She laid down as we closed the crate door.

Also, she loves the attention: getting her belly and ears rubbed, lots of petting, sitting on your lap!  She does very well riding in a car!  In fact, while in the car last week, Marley sat in my lap with her nose out the window and before I knew it, she was sound asleep with that nose partially hanging out the window! Precious!! 

And coming back, she laid in the seat, with her head on the console (the part between the bucket seats).

We think she’s younger than the age given by the shelter!!   She likes to play with stuffed and squeaky toys, chew on shoes (if they are in her reach!), and run after a ball or toy when its thrown!  She acts more like an older puppy!  And when she runs, she is FAST!!  She has a lot of energy so that’s why she must be walked and played with.

She is afraid of gunshots (we live in a rural area!) and the sound of thunder.  When I was walking her one day, we heard a gunshot, and she stopped and got close to me. This happened more than once.

I can’t say enough about her.  She would make a great addition to a family who was willing to give her the time, love and attention she deserves.  I’ll add one thing, she likes a routine such as the one she had: eat, walk, treats, play and then rest!  She is very affectionate and a sweetheart!

Oh . . . she not too fond of taking a bath!  But she was bathed and brushed often!
