Daina

I’ve Been Adopted!

Age: 10 ish

Gender: Female

Daina means ‘song’  Her name is pronounced “Diana” and her original BREW name was Lynn. She came from the Northern Neck of Virginia.

Previously adopted in 2006 this 10 year young girl has lots of love yet to give.  She is a slim leggy girl who loves to cuddle on the sofa with or without you.  Outside her energy level picks up as she loves walking and exploring new smells.  New situations/people make her nervous but once she gets to know you she is a total love bug. She rides nicely in a car uncrated but a doggy seat belt could be used.  She is house trained as she goes to the door to let you know she needs out. She would love a fenced yard and a doggy door but it is not a requirement.  She gets along with my DIVA girl, but does not need another dog.  I think she would be ok with older children as younger ones may make her nervous.

Webster

I’ve Been Adopted!

Age: 9 ish

Gender: Male

Webster is a BREW alumnus adopted in 2005. He did well in his home until a child came along and the owners worried that Webster was too aggressive with the toddler. On medical examination, Webster was diagnosed with early Cushing’s. Meaning – he was hungry all the time! And probably was going after food! He has been treated and is doing very well on his medication. He gets a weekly pill and has a normal beagle appetite. The vet says his Cushing’s is at a level 2 out of 10 and that he is very adoptable.

Webster (my husband calls him WebSTAR) is a super affectionate boy. Webster greets each morning with joy and optimism. He is playful with my dogs and has been wonderful with the neighborhood children. But, he shouldn’t go to a home with toddlers, just based on the past. And someone willing to give him weekly pills is also a requirement.

He walks really well on lead. When he is tired, he likes to snooze in a open crate or in a dog bed. He has that magic energy – always up for a walk or some play – but also always ready to settle down and snooze peacefully. He has been pure joy in his foster home. But, I know he would like to be someone’s special boy!

Joe

I’ve Been Adopted!

Age: 6 years old

Gender: Male

Joe came for a visit today. When he got here, he was FULL of energy. And hunger. He is a very skinny little guy. Once he and Linny ran all around (and had lunch) he settled down. He is a great little cuddler. He got along just fine with my dogs. I haven’t heard a sound from him or from Linny. Joe is very food oriented and would certainly knock over a toddler who had food. He is super friendly and happy. And he is very people focused. Joe is a love!

Maggie

I’ve been adopted!

Age: 6ish

Gender: Female

Update for 8/10: Maggie is back with BREW after being returned for getting in the trashcan.

Uh, newsflash: this is WHAT BEAGLES DO! If you want a beagle, you need to be prepared to move your trashcan. OR don’t get a beagle.

Update for 3/27:

Maggie has lost 4lbs and is down to 34lbs. She’s looking great! She loves to go on walks and does well on a leash.

Maggie was a stray found in the woods in WV back in November.  Some campers found her wandering .  She is super sweet and friendly.  Loves everybody and is crate-trained. Her original rescuers say she is housetrained.

Maggie needs to lose about 15lbs. She’s got hypothyroidism (low thyroid) so she’s carrying extra weight on her small frame. The medication to control her thyroid is unbelievably INexpensive.

Macy

I’ve Been Adopted!

Gender: Female

Age: 6 years

New! Macy is a very sweet and even tempered dog.  She gets along great in the house with our two male dogs and will cuddle on the couch between them and us.  They are also all able to be fed together in the same room with no squabbling.  Macy loves to be outside and will sometimes run around with our two boys, though most of the time she is too busy sniffing to play.  She is housetrained and does very well on the leash though she will pull at times when there something especially interesting that she smells.  She loves to cuddle and as soon as she is petted, will roll on her side for a belly rub, which is her favorite way of relaxing.  She is a great house dog and will probably do well in an apartment too.  She doesn’t try to chew or destroy anything and is quite content to hang out on the nearest dog bed or piece of furniture if invited up. She leaves trash cans alone and doesn’t counter surf for food either.   She has been sleeping through the night on a dog bed upstairs with us and doesn’t get up until the humans are up and about.  She is very quiet and only barks when someone comes to the door but quiets down when told “Macy hush.”  She will also howl along with you if you so desire :).  She is great with kids and spent a recent sleepover night curled up at the foot of our niece’s sleeping bag.
This is Macy. She was adopted from BREW a few years and is coming back because of severe allergies in an infant in the home. Macy is a loving, gentle, sweet, affectionate beagle who want to be yours.

From her owners:

Macy loves to play fetch with tennis balls and play tug-of-war with toys. She is never destructive. She loves to be petted, have her ears, neck, and belly rubbed, and to cuddle on the couch with us.

She is adventurous, enjoying hiking and swimming.

Macy loves to sing with us.

She is great with our infant son and all the other kids she meets.

Macy would be a perfect dog for a family with love to give.  Love her and she will be yours forever.

Jessie

Adopted!

Age: 6 ish

Gender: Female

Update from Foster Mom:

Jessie is full of energy and life!!! It just comes out everyday; she especially loves playing with her foster brother and sister the three of them love to wrestle with each other. She has also found a love for looking out my living room window and playing in the back yard. She continues to do well in the crate although she gets a bit upset when I leave. She is still a snugglebug and loves to lay next to me or one of the other dogs. Currently she has learned to sit and that sitting is required before her meals or a treat. She loves playing with toys and will even try her attempt of fetch with them. Jessie is a joy to have and I know that she will make a loving member of a family.

Jessie has been here almost a month and she has really settled in! Her personality has really come out and she is outgoing, sweet, and ready to cuddle with any person she meets.

When friends come over, she eagerly greets every girl that comes to the door. When she wags her tail she wags it up and down instead of side to side.

Jessie loves to play with the toys and plays with them and carries them wherever she goes. Her favorite is a stuffed turkey that goes gobble, gobble. She also keeps her crate clean when I am gone during the day.

Jessie gets along with my two beagles and is afraid of big dogs.

Mitzy

I’ve Been Adopted !

Age: 14 years

Gender: Female

From our wonderful volunteer BREW Bob: Mitzy spent the last couple nights with Mason and I and has been a wonderful guest.  She rides well in the car with no crate required.  She walks well on the leash and does whatever she needs to do.  In the house she selects a dog bed or a chunk of carpet and sleeps a lot, although she is always ready for a walk or a good backyard sniff.   She eats like a beagle and has had no accidents in the house.  She would make a wonderful companion for someone who wants a laid back dog who just wants to be with her person.

Old Stuff: Wow, I as adopted in 2004 and figured I had a home for life. Hey – 7 years, you’d think it was permanent! But, mom and dad got divorced and neither of them could keep me.  I am so adorable, you would have expected a custody battle! But, here I am, back with BREW hoping for a better luck this time.

I am a great car beagle – rides of 6 hours are nothing to me, as long as I get the occasional potty break. I am quiet in the car and I get along with people and with other dogs.

Giselle

I’ve Been Adopted!

Gender: Female

Age: 4-5 years

6/19/2013- Giselle is still waiting for her furever home.  She is an adult puppy…….housebroken, affectionate, and playful.  She would love a family with children or another dog that likes to play.  She has full run of the house in her foster home and there hasn’t been any problems.

1/20/2013-  Giselle is still looking for her furever home.  She acts so much like a puppy it is hard to realize she is 5 yrs old.  She loves to play with other dogs and with soft squeaky toys.  Although she can be high energy (no doubt the Jack Russell part of her), she’s also calm and content to play on her own or snuggle up on the couch.  She would love a energetic family and would keep the kids busy for hours.

9/9/12:  Giselle has settled in quite well. She is housetrained to the doggy door, and is not at all vocal. I’ve only heard her bark a few times in the last two weeks and she has a very quiet voice. Personality-wise, she’s a puppy. High energy, very active, kissy face and playful. She loves stuffed toys and tosses them about often. We’re still working on losing weight. She’s a small girl that should weigh about 20 lbs. She would do well in any family. She’s gentle enough for kids and good with other dogs. With neither, she can amuse herself with toys or running laps in the house and yard. She is not crate trained, but has the run of the house in her foster home.

Got my foster home, got my squeeky toy.  Life is good!!!!

Giselle is a small 4-5 year old female beagle that looks like she really needs a break.  She’s friendly, outgoing and gets along well with other dogs.  She was a stray in Abingdon, VA so her history is unknown.

Dinah

I’ve Been Adopted!

Gender: Female

Age: 5ish

Dinah gets along great with her beagle foster brothers and sister and absolutely loves children. I think she will do best with another dog or children. She does not have food aggression and will wait patiently for meals. Dinah has a clue regarding house training and has kept her crate clean for 3 to 4 hours. She does not like the vacuum cleaner or thunderstorms. Nor does she like when you raise your voice.
UPDATE FROM MAY ADOPTION DAY: Short legs, soft coat, long body and a personality plus. She spent the day looking for laps to climb into and kids to greet.  She greets you by putting her front paws on you asking for pets. Dinah is a 5yr old spayed female fully vetted and ready for a new home.  She came to a home in Richmond, VA as a stray. She has been indoors but now is kenneled.  She very friendly, great with other dogs and does very well with small children.
