Ronnie

Available

Age: 12 weeks

Gender: Female

There is no question about it, The Rolling Stones puppies are full bred beagles.  Ronnie is TINY, but she is a spitfire and full of energy.  She may be the smallest, but she can outlast all of her brothers every time.  She loves to be held but she also runs around like a maniac.  She is cute as can be, but don’t forget, little or not, she is still lots of work.

If you are interested in any of the “Rolling Stones” puppies, please submit an adoption application. Please note that we get A LOT of applications for puppies so your application MUST be accompanied by the $15 application fee. We strongly recommend that you submit that fee via Paypal to avoid delays!

Carol

I’m Available!

Gender: Female

Age: 8 weeks as of 4 April 2014

Puppies…puppies…puppies…what’s that sound? It’s Puppy Madness!

Carol may look demure, but she would really rather be using her energy, superior beagle nose, and sharp little teeth to sniff out and chew up trouble (and treats!). She and her “Walking Dead” siblings are still learning from mom, Maggie, how to evade and defeat zombies, but they will be available soon!

In short: Carol’s puppy energy and short attention span are enough to make you feel like a zombie, but gosh-darnnit – she is ADORABLE!

Please understand that while we know who the mom is, we don’t know about the dad. So, we cannot guarantee the size or breed mix of these puppies. If either is an issue for you, we recommend that you consider another beagle.

If you are interested in any of the 5 puppies, please submit an adoption application. Please note that we get A LOT of applications for puppies so your application MUST be accompanied by the $15 application fee. We strongly recommend that you submit that fee via Paypal to avoid delays!

Michonne

I’m Available!

Gender: Female

Age: 8 weeks as of 4 April 2014

Puppies…puppies…puppies…what’s that sound? Zombies? No, it’s Puppy Madness!

Michonne and her powerful combination of puppy energy, sharp little teeth, and superior sense of smell keep her very busy and will leave you feeling a bit like a zombie! She and her “Walking Dead” siblings are still learning from mom, Maggie, how to evade and defeat zombies, but they will be available soon!

In short: Michonne is energetic, chew-tastic, has a short attention span (gotta look out for zombies!), but gosh-darnnit – she is ADORABLE!

Please understand that while we know who the mom is, we don’t know about the dad. So, we cannot guarantee the size or breed mix of these puppies. If either is an issue for you, we recommend that you consider another beagle.

Maggie

Available Soon!

Age: Adult

Gender: Female

Maggie is the amazing mom of the five “Walking Dead” puppies, and she has been busy taking care great of them (they are only seven weeks as of March 28th). This lucky family came from Louisa County, where Maggie was found after a snowstorm and was reunited with her lost pups who were found three days later. Fortunately, the whole family is doing well, and Maggie will be available for adoption once the puppies are weaned and she has been vetted.

Delaney

Adoption Pending!

Age: 3 years

Gender: Female

QUICK UPDATE – 27 MARCH 2014: They have only recently moved into a foster home, but Delaney’s foster mom reports that she and her sister, Colleen are very sweet, seem to be house-trained, and are cat-tested and approved!

Original info: Delaney is a 25 pound lass. She is tri-color, 3 years old. She came to BREW from Lexington, VA. She is instantly friendly when approached by people. This is a good thing because she is a people magnet. Everybody just wants to pet her and get her attention. She likes the attention and gently wags her tail throughout. She gets along with other dogs, and travels well. Delaney would be a shoe-in for Miss Congeniality if it weren’t for her rescue partner, Colleen. Between the two of them, it is a photo-finish, probably a tie.

Colleen

I’m Available!

Age: 3 years

Gender: Female

30 MARCH 2014: Colleen is a very happy little – well at 30 pounds, not so little – beagle girl.  She came to her foster home a week ago with Delaney.  They both settled in very quickly.  Colleen is the more confident of the two, but she still has moments of being unsure of what is going on (If I go out do I get to come back in? or Not sure I want to go in that room).  Of course, meal time and treats bring out the confident, happy little girl that she is.  She does eat fast, but rare is the beagle that doesn’t.  Colleen is also housetrained.  She hasn’t started to signal at her foster home – and we get the crew out fairly frequently whether they ask or not.  So far, she has spent her time cuddled with a person or sister Delaney.  Of course, the weather this weekend hasn’t been the best for going outside to explore.  She isn’t a big barker, but does occasionally have a conversation with me. She gets along well with the dogs in the house and the cats are fine with her too.  She will bark at the cats a bit and wag her tail in play and they just look at her as if to say not interested – but she doesn’t make them wary or uncomfortable.  Colleen and Delaney slept quietly in the kennel their first night here but graduated to the bedroom when I realized they are housetrained.

Original info: Colleen, a sweet tri-color beagle girl of 30 pounds and 3 years, came to BREW from Lexington, VA. She is very comfortable with people and loves to look deep into your eyes. She gets along well with other dogs and walks nicely on lead (however, like most beagles, will pull when she gets a scent). She travels well in her crate, keeps it clean, and keeps quiet. Colleen would be a shoe-in for Miss Congeniality if it weren’t for her rescue partner, Delaney. Between the two of them it is a photo-finish.

Chelsea

I’m Available!

Age: 9 years

Gender: Female

UPDATE – 23 MARCH 2014: Chelsea has been in her foster home for two weeks now, and she has settled in very nicely, despite an above-average level of chaos in a household that includes three other dogs (all male), three cats, and two humans. She continues to get along well with our pets and hasn’t given up on trying to get the other dogs to play with her. Chelsea will play some through the fence with our neighbors’ young, female bulldog. She also likes dog toys, and we’ve found that she loves to be out in the snow! Yesterday, Chelsea traveled with us to visit friends with three children, ages 4-6, and she was very gentle and friendly with them and had no problems napping while they were playing loudly. She was very interested in some of the kids’ toys, but after we put away the most interesting ones, she left them alone.

Chelsea is completely house-trained and crate-trained. In fact, she very much likes sleeping in the crate on her own, and we no longer shut the crate door at night. She has shown no interest in the furniture, but does enjoy a good dog bed. She has done well when left out with the other dogs for a few hours, but we do crate her while we are gone for longer periods of time (the resident dogs can be grumps). Chelsea is very vocal from the crate when we come home, and she will bark at dogs from the yard and on walks. Speaking of the yard and walks, Chelsea loves to be outside! She has quite a bit of endurance, although she is also a bit of a puller on the leash. If I didn’t have her records, I’d guess that she was a few years younger based on her energy level and playfulness. Chelsea is an all-around great gal, and she would be a great addition to a home with at least one family member willing and able to walk her daily. If you think Chelsea may be the one for you, please fill out an application!

8 MARCH 2014: Chelsea came back to BREW this week and just arrived in her new foster home last night. She is a beautiful, 9-years-young, liver tri-colored girl who tips the scales at about 28 pounds. Chelsea (formerly “Sassy”) was originally adopted from BREW in 2005 at about six months of age, and her owner recently made the difficult decision to return her due to changes in living situation and work schedule.

Chelsea is still settling in to her foster home, but she has been good overall with the three resident dogs (all males, 15-60 pounds) and has ignored the cats. She does need to work a bit on her boundaries with the other (occasionally grumpy) dogs, but she has been nothing but friendly with them and very respectful when they give her warning growls. Chelsea seems to be in excellent physical shape and easily went on a brisk two-mile walk last night and a slightly shorter walk this morning. She could use a refresher on the leash, though, and is quite enthusiastic about being out in front. She has also enjoyed investigating the yard.

Chelsea slept quietly in her crate overnight and appears (not surprisingly) to be house-trained. She is responsive to basic verbal commands (“sit,” “back up,” “no”/”un-uh”, etc.). She also has a lovely beagle voice, which she has already used to express her dislike of northern Virginia traffic, say hello to neighborhood dogs, and announce people walking by or at the front door. Stay tuned for more information on Chelsea as we get to know her better!
