Michelle

I’m Available!

Age: 3-4 years

Gender: Female

UPDATE – 28 SEPTEMBER 2014: Michelle is having a great time in her foster home! This weekend, she participated in a 5K dog walk and loved it, sniffing at least 90% of the route, and she was excellent with all the dogs she met, many of which were much larger than her. She hasn’t had any accidents in the week she’s been here and is still fairly quiet. Michelle does bark and whine some when she’s ready to get out of her crate, and she will howl some at critters in the yard and on walks. She’s proven trust-worthy when left out unattended for short periods of time, although she did make a nest on the people bed once. We’ve also found something she likes better than snuggling on the couch – snuggling on the couch between two people! Michelle is a good mix of energy levels; she’s always up for a walk and has occasional bursts of energy – often to play with toys, but she seems to always be up for a good nap on the couch, too!

22 SEPTEMBER 2014: Michelle has been in her foster home for just over a day, but she is already very comfortable and a joy to have around. She is absolutely adorable and very snuggly. Michelle is about average height for a beagle but has very delicate features and weighs about 20 pounds soaking wet. She has gotten along nicely with our three dogs (15-65 pounds) and has mostly ignored the cats. Thus far, her favorite things are to nap on the couch (preferably with a human) and explore the yard. She also seems to enjoy walks but could use a little practice on the leash. She had not had any accidents and will potty both in the yard and on a leash. She slept soundly through the night in her crate in our bedroom, and I have yet to hear her bark. Michelle is a great catch!

Initial info: Michelle is a small, 3 to 4-year-old female beagle who will be available for adoption after her vetting is completed [update: Michelle is now fully vetted!].  She is friendly and quiet and gets along great with other dogs.  She was a stray at the Madison County Animal Shelter, so her history is unknown. Stay tuned as we get to know Michelle better!

Ginny

I’ve Been Adopted!

Age: 9 months (September 2014)

Gender: Female

UPDATE – 11 SEPTEMBER 2014: Ginny has been in my home for 2 weeks now.  She is crate-trained and almost completely house-trained with very few accidents.  She is sweet, playful, and very affectionate.  She whines a little when you first put her in her crate, but she settles down nicely.  She loves to play with toys but is also happy snuggling.

Original info: Ginny is a nine-month-old spayed female beagle who weighs just 17 pounds.  She is friendly but a little shy with other dogs until she gets to know them.  She was an owner give-up at the Culpeper Animal Shelter because they no longer had time for her. Stay tuned as we get to know Ginny better!

Freya

Available Soon!

Age: 3 years

Gender: Female

1 SEPTEMBER 2014: Freya is feeling much better but still has a ways to go with her heartworm treatment, so she is not yet available for adoption.

6 AUGUST 2014: Unfortunately, Freya and her buddy, Hamish, came to BREW with a number of health issues (heartworm positive, Lyme disease antibodies, hookworms, and Giardia). We’re working with our wonderful vets to get them healthy, and they will be moving into foster homes in a few weeks.

Needy beagles like Freya and Hamish are the ones who need BREW most, and we’re proud to have gotten them to safety and on the road to recovery. The truth is, however, that these desperately needy beagles are expensive to care for, and it’s only through our supporters’ generous donations that week can keep saving beagles like these. If you would like to help us offset the cost of Freya’s care, please use the “sponsor” section to the lower right or click HERE. Thank you!

Original info: Freya is new to BREW as of August 1st! She was a stray in Fredericksburg, Virginia, and our vet estimates she is about 3 years old and 20 pounds.  She is very people- and dog-friendly, rides quietly in the car, and didn’t leave any messes in her crate after her 2 hour ride. Stay tuned as we get to know Freya!

A big BREW “Arrrrrroooooo!” and “Thank You!” to Friends of Freya and Hamish for their generous donations: Ingrid Carlson, John and Rita Koch, Cary Nugent, James Grant, Roy Cox, Virginia Brooks, Oscar Merida, Megan West, Melissa Rohall, Thomas Calvo, Nancy Kline, Maureen Edwards, Virginia Mertzig, John Doyle, Ruth Davis, Michelle Connors, Donna Reynolds, Robin Van Mechelen, Leo Leparski, Nan Phillips, Sherman and Pamela Litten, Rick Fisher, Andrew Starzyk, Christine Pinson, Robert Simms, Elyse McCoy, Lucy Wise-Gladwell, Karen Gavidia, Melinda Way, Holland Bell, Mary Sokolowski, Carole Spurgin, Frances Battey, Elena Boshier, Michelle Walter, William Gray, Peter Frecknall, Gary Abosch, Dennis King for TSS Enterprises, Mary Scalone, Donelle Mayausky for Tray Me, Glenn Gable, Helen Barker, Michele Aimone, Rhonda Lehtinen, Scott Finkelstein, Heather Field, Kelly Weiss, Joan Vaughan, Cheri Davidson, Margaret Stahl, Megan O’Karma, Carol Bull, Michele Crecca, Jennifer Pesanelli, Terry Phillips, Sandra Phipps, Margaret Murphy, Charles Arismendi, Kevin Levanduski, Margaret Murphy, Monica Berlin, Brandi Hensley, Sandra Toscano, Richard Blevins, Jenifer Schreiner, Erin McGeever, Peggy Anuszewski, Robert Breece, Edward Farber, Stuart Weisberg, and Beth Cousino.
