I've Been Adopted!Stitch

Age: 3 years

Gender: Male

UPDATE - 2 APRIL 2014: Stitch is a sweet, loving, gentle, funny little beagle. He loves meal time and does a full-body-wag dance when he know it is coming. While he is not much a of barker, he does like to make the occasional editorial comment in a low woof.  He loves other dogs and is bereft when he cannot greet every single one. He is still a bit shy around people but will warm up if the person is patient and lets Stitch make the approach.

24 MARCH 2014: What a difference a week makes! Stitch came to his foster house a week ago very shy and fearful. Even the sound of the coffee maker sent him running for cover. Stitch had made great progress in short time. Stitch has mastered the stairs, the doggie door, crate training and with regular walks, is fully house broken.

Not only is Stitch smart but he is also incredibly sweet, gentle and just a beautiful beagle. He loves others dogs and is cat neutral. Stitch is still shy around people but warms up if he is allowed to do so on his own terms.

Stitch loves following his foster brother beagle around, having his tummy rubbed and is a sweet cuddler. He walks well on his leash, enjoys riding in the car and absolutely loves the dog park where he can make friends and get his play on.

Stitch would do best in a house with another dog. His foster brother has been really important in showing him the ropes. He may be reluctant to do something (still a bit fearful) but if his brother does it, Stitch is all in. Also, Stitch is a fence-climber, but he has been fine in his foster home with a 6-foot wooden fence. He will need a home with a privacy fence or no fence (plus walks).

Original info: Stitch is a 3 year old male beagle.  Stitch is friendly but a little reserved and good with other dogs.  He came to the Louisa Co. Animal Shelter with a embedded collar that required stitches around his neck.  He is a fence climber. Stay tuned we get to know Stitch better!

Hi, Marcy – Stitch is crate-trained, and his foster mom says, “Stitch weighs about 21 lbs and likes riding the car. The past two days he has been curious about people as opposed to fear.” Since you’re a previous adopter, you would not need to go through the entire application process again, so let us know if you’d like work with BREW to find another good match. Thanks for your interest!

Hello! Is Stitch still available? We recently had to put our Beagle down and were hoping to rescue a Beagle if we could… 🙂

Hi, Sara – I am so sorry to hear about your recent loss. Yes, Stitch is currently available at this time. You can learn more about our application process by clicking HERE. Thanks for your interest in adopting a beagle! (PS: please note that Stitch would do better in a home with another dog, but we have many other wonderful beagles if that doesn’t work for your situation!)

Stitch is adorable! I’d definitely like more information about him if it’s available. My husband and I have had our application approved except for the home visit which should happen soon. We are looking for a dog that is good with children as well as other dogs.

Hi, Sarah – Stitch is currently at a kennel while awaiting a foster home, so we don’t know a whole lot about him yet (and the same for Mistletoe). We’ll know more about them once they are fostered.

        Ok thank you!
