I wanted to tell you a little about Molly "Pop" McBeagle. I adopted Molly from my math teacher, who was fostering her and another beagle in Lynchburg, VA. The first moment I laid eyes on her, I knew she was going to be my dog. I've always had a soft spot for beagles, and her sweet, loving eyes were a complete giveaway. I found a pet-friendly apartment in New York, where I was moving, and Molly and I were off on May 17, 2005.

Molly was a terrified beagle when I first took her in. She had a wonderful foster mom who brought her out of her shell a bit, but loud noises and new people still scared her. At first, I was worried that New York might be too much for her, but in a matter of months she was a well-adjusted resident with plenty of bigger friends (great danes, rottweilers, an english bulldog) to protect her.

One of the things I love about Molly is that she's such a good judge of character. Her skittishness at first proved useful! I went on my first date with a wonderful man last June. Molly was still scared of everyone at that point, but when she met Lanier, she warmed up to him immediately. A year later and we're getting married. What can I say? Love me, love my dog.

Molly and I recently had our one year anniversary, and it's hard to believe she wasn't always a part of my life. She snuggles with me every night and howls the way beagles do whenever one of us gets home. She's learned to "high five" and beg and she hasn't had an accident in months, so I consider her successfully housetrained. Molly is a social dog now. She loves other dogs (as long as they're nice to her) and she doesn't run away from new people anymore.

Best of all, Molly is a warm, caring, wonderful dog who loves to play, snuggle, and makes us feel like we're the luckiest people in the world. She innately knows when one of us is sad or sick or cranky and does her best to cheer us up with a well-timed kiss on the nose. No dog could be better.

I'm attaching a picture of Molly as I know her--adoring, sweet, and LOVED! Thank you, Beagle Rescue, for sending me Molly. She rescues me daily!
