We don’t know where he came from, but we know that he has found his “forever” home with us until he goes to Rainbow Bridge, which might be sooner rather than later because he has a bad heart.

Buddy is just the purest soul you could meet. Food, attention and a place on the bed to sleep are all he needs. In fact, one time when he tried to get Pippin’s food when he finished first, I gave him a tap on his butt and said, “No!” and he looked as me and said, “I can’t believe you would do that!”

He loves his walks on the long leashes and after he piddles, he paws all four feet in an attempt to cover up the duties, which usually means my sandals get full of dirt and leaves!

Buddy was a stray and when he first came to BREW he had a hernia, a canine tooth that was so bad it needed to be pulled, and a heart murmur. He was also “in tact” so he needed to be neutered. It was determined he was about 10 years old.

He would be our second foster, a brother to Pippin who we adopted from BREW last year. She’s an alpha female so we foster laid-back male dogs. Buddy fit the bill.

We picked him up from the vet two days after his surgery and the poor guy stood up in the back seat all the was home. I think the stitches hurt when he lay down. He couldn’t do stairs, but boy could he eat!

We went to adoption days and we had a write up on the web site when he developed an infection and so back to the vet we went. The vet said his heart was worse and his blood pressure is high. Poor old guy.

We had to leave him that day for tests and apparently he thought we’d abandoned him because he didn’t eat anything. Any beagle who doesn’t eat is upset or sick and Buddy was so happy when we came to get him.

We’ve now taken him off the adoption list and we are considered his “hospice home” so he’ll be with us for as long as he has quality of life. We wish we could have met him sooner but for now, we’re just happy that he’s a part of our lives.
