Mariette and Katie are not blood sisters – but they are the best sisters. Both girls were adopted from BREW (Mariette was Loretta and Katie was Myrtle). Both escaped from their original adopters and were loose in very urban setting for way too long. Thank goodness we were able to retrieve these shy girls.

Mariette was so shy that we had to keep our house door open for her first 3 months with us (starting in February!). Now, my brave darling has earned her Canine Good Citizen Certificate. Katie is working on hers. Both of them live for their walks with my husband. Katie is his slave. Mariette is still shy, but will allow herself to be petted if a walk or a treat are forthcoming.

Best of all, these two girls have bonded. We have other dogs and take in many fosters – but Katie and Mariette always know that they can trust each other and act as sisters (bonded, but sometimes jealous of each other). We are happy every day that we adopted these two girls. And when we watch “White Christmas” and hear the sisters song – we know what they are talking about!
