In June of 2002, my long-time companion (Buster) passed away after nine faithful years. It was rough on me, as he had been a part of my life since college. We moved from Lubbock to Ft. Worth to Chicago to Milwaukee to Dallas and back to Chicago (all work-related)... he stayed with me every step of the way.

In May of 2003, I got engaged to an incredible woman. Thankfully, she was also a dog-lover. Although both of us have full-time jobs, we thought it was time to open our house up to a puppy. We looked everywhere... the newspaper, internet ads, etc. and just couldn't find the 'perfect dog'. As I was walking home from the 'El' last month (the train that connects points within Chicago), I came across a beautiful beagle pup. The owner suggested we try BREW and she wrote down the website for me. The rest, as they say, is history.

Today, we have an incredible new addition to our family. She loves living in the city, as she gets to see other dogs and LOTS of new people on a daily basis. One of our friends has a terrier pup (also an adoption), who is Lucy's new best friend. My fiance and I are huge fans of the Chicago Cubs and have taken her to see Wrigley Field twice already. We also got her to wear a little Cubs jersey (and bandana)throughout the recent playoff run.

We owe the folks at BREW - and especially her foster mom - a huge thanks for all of the work they put into her. Lucy will be a special member of our family for years to come. I don't know how we ever lived without her.
