Day 14 - The boys keep the crate clean at night, and actually sleep in!! PDF Print E-mail

Day 14, Morning - In which the boys keep the crate clean overnight, and actually sleep in! I wake up with a cold nose in my ear, and beagle breath on my face. Buster has decided it's time I got up, so I can feed him. The puppies begin stirring, and I wheel them out to the back door - open the crate, and out tumbles a tangle of legs, ears and tails. They run out the doggie door, with the resident four in hot pursuit. I make coffee, and in a few minutes, I'm sitting outside watching the dogs play and explore the yard. Garrison is extremely proud of the hole he and Warren have dug - they're playing on Dog House Mountain, and Daisy is NOT too happy about this. She wants to relax, and the pups won't let her. They come down off the mountain, and start licking her face and ears. She barks - a few well placed sharp barks - just like a mother might sound! We stay outside for a little while longer, then come in and everybody eats. Daisy takes her medicine without a problem, and the pups spill their food and then go into Hoover mode to clean up every last little molecule. They're ready to go back outside, and I have to get ready for work. The weather has been wonderful, and the dogs have enjoyed being outside. As I pull out of the driveway, the pups are again playing on Dog House Mountain, and my neighbor is keeping a watchful eye on the activities.

Day 14, Evening - In which I find out that the boys are adopted! The only thing remaining is to make arrangements for Garrison and Warren to get to their forever home. I haven't heard from the family yet, and probably won't tonight. I am going to miss having puppies tumbling around my feet - especially since I figured out that leather shoes are the greatest thing for protecting against puppy teeth! the boys are asleep in the kitchen - no sense waking them up to bring the crate into the bedroom, if they're comfortable where they are....tomorrow might be the last day of Beagle Camp...I will be sad to see it end, but at the same time, I'll be getting my kitchen and my sanity ( well, at least my kitchen) back!
