The adoption fee for BREW Mid-Atlantic is $200 which includes a $40 deposit, refundable upon completion of an obedience course. Simply send a copy of your contract and a copy of the diploma and BREW will send you a check for $40.

We believe very strongly that obedience training is KEY to a successful adoption and we encourage all of our adopters -- even the ones who consider themselves to be dog-experienced -- to take their rescued beagles to an obedience class. Taking one class can 1) help you bond with your beagle; 2)teach him (and you) basic commands; and 3) instill a sense of confidence in a shy dog or teach a dominant beagle that you're the boss, not her.

We recommend positive reinforcement as the best training method for beagles. Most Petcos and PetSmarts offer these classes. Clicker training has also been successful with beagles. Please go to our FAQs and Resources section for more information about positive reinforcement training resources.

What's Covered in the Adoption Fee?

People often want to know why B.R.E.W. charges an adoption fee and what that fee is for. Below is what's covered.

For Adult Beagles:

• Spay/Neuter
• Boarding/Food (while being spayed/neutered)
• Rabies
• DHLPP
• Heartworm Test
• Fecal Test
• Microchip implant (for id purposes)
• Any treatment deemed necessary by our vet

For Beagle Pups:

• Shots, until time of adoption
• Deworming, until time of adoption
• Spay/neuter, at 6 months or earlier - At a participating vet
• Microchip implant (for id purposes)

As you can see, our adoption fee covers a number of costs. Your dog will be covered for all the necessary inoculations for the first year*. We will send you copies of all paperwork related to any service provided to your beagle.

* Puppies that cannot be spay/neutered may have the procedure done by a B.R.E.W.-authorized vet at an appropriate age or you may elect to use your own vet (at your own expense). Puppies will have all shots/treatments suitable for their age.
