Curtis

I've been adopted!

Age: 4 years

Gender: Male

Adoption Day Info:

My name is Curtis, or as my 3 year old friend says, “Turtis”. I was found by my college friend, Ben, in Terre Haute, Indiana. I was dumpster diving at IHOP, (which by the way has good leftovers) and Ben saw that I my collar was grown into my neck, and I was very skinny. He took me to the no-kill shelter, but they had no room, so he let me hang out in his dorm with the guys. Boy was that fun!! Everyone on campus knew my name!

I was able to live there for 2 months, until somebody at the college decided I didn’t fit their description of the ideal college student. So, Ben’s parents said they would take me until Ben was done with college. Well, Ben is done, and going to Saudi Arabia for his masters degree, and his mom has health issues and needs to find me a forever home.

My mom thinks I was abused, as I cower when I am disciplined. I am completely house trained, and will let you know when I need to go outside. I know lots of commands like sit and “on your bed”, or “on your blanket”. I wait until you say “ok” to eat my food, and I take treats very nicely from your hand. I lay on my bed when my family eats, so I don’t bother them. I love to snuggle next to you and sleep.

I also love to run around and play, and I use to wrestle with Shadow the older dog, but mom says she’s getting too old to wrestle anymore. Sometimes I annoy Shadow, because I want to play and she doesn’t. I love to take walks and am fine until another dog walks by. Then I pull my mom toward the other dog, and bark (quite loudly). This is something we are working on. When I’m in my yard, I also bark when bikes go by, or when people are walking their dogs. My mom has been working on this with me, and when she says, “enough”, a lot of times I will stop. Sometimes I’d just rather ignore her and enjoy my barking.

I love playing with my “nieces” who are 1, 3 and 5. I let them drag me around the house on my leash, and they put blankets on me, and play house with me. I am exhausted by the time they leave.I am the type of dog that always tries to please people. I would also try to please you if you’ll only give me a chance. I need work in some areas, but I will try really hard. Please give me a forever home.

Curtis
