Available Beagles

Clark

I am available for adoption!

Age: 7-8 years

Gender: Male

Adoption Day Info:

NEW 7/6/10: Clark is seriously one of the sweetest & easiest beagles who has ever hung out with us in the search for a Forever Family.  He is a champion cuddler & would hang out on my lap constantly if I (and my other beagle Otis) would let him.  He loves to get & give kisses, & will give you his belly for a tummy rub any time, any where.  He is a bit of a klutz & has been known to trip over his own feet & to fall off the couch after mis-gauging how close he is to the edge (but he hops right back up - its actually quite comical).  He is generally very calm except at his dinner time (& he knows when it is).  Then he follows me around until he gets his food.  I can almost hear his brain repeating - "Feed Me, Feed Me, Yum, Yum, Yum."  (He grew up in an environment where he was not fed during hunting season, but rather left to fend for himself, because of the completely false notion that a hungry beagle will hunt better, so you can't really blame him for being obsessed about dinner.)  Even so, he's not aggressive about his food and he is very polite when people eat, generally hanging out in his crate or on the dog bed until People Dinner is over.  He is also generally pretty quiet, although he does bark a bit when I leave for work in the morning (once he finishes his morning treat), and, as I recently discovered (after a bunch of police cars, fire trucks & ambulances flew down our street), he fusses a bit about emergency vehicle sirens.  He is house and crate trained.  He loves to sniff around outside & is friendly with all of the people & dogs (& the occasional cat) we meet on our walks.  In short, he would be a great addition to any family.

UPDATE: Meet Clark.  He's a little on the older side, but he's aged well and is still playful - sort of like Dick Clark.  He has a handsome head of black "hair" with a wonderful widow's peak and he's a really good kisser - like Clark Gable (although Clark Gable's kissing prowess is pure speculation on my part).  He likes to do lay-outs when he jumps off the bed, so it looks a bit like he's flying - sort of like Clark Kent's alter-ego, Superman.  Hmmm...I'm out of Clark comparisons - and really, Clark is an original.  He is totally sweet and loves to get lots of pets and belly rubs.  He is really good with other dogs and loves to meet new people.  He's house and crate trained, but also goes potty on a leash like a champ.  He rarely barks and I haven't heard him howl in the two weeks he's been with me.  He is food-obsessed, but not aggressive; he counter-surfs and tries to get in the pantry.  We are working on those bad habits, as well as his tendency to jump up on me, and he is making progress.  He has really short legs (and is possibly a beagle-basset hound mix), so I got him a set of stairs to get into bed.  He marches up them every night and snuggles up against me for the night.  All-in-all, he is a wonderful, loving, sweet companion, so Forever Family, here he is!

Clark is a 7-8yr old neutered male beagle that is very friendly and great with other dogs.  He's sweet and really would love to learn what it is like to be part of a family.  He was a stray at Louisa Co. so his history is unknown.

Best wishes from Scoutie-bug

Sandy Endy - I am sponsoring Clark and Baxter. Baxter's story brought tears to my eyes. Dogs are more loyal than any other relationship one could have.

Scott Winn - : In Memory of Sweetie. A beagle who survived the Blizzard and ran free in Spring. And in appreciation of those who tried so hard to bring her home.

Laura Louise Stevens - I am not able to adopt right now but if I could Clark would be the one! I am glad I can keep in contact with him through sponsoring!!!!
