Woo hoo! Let me tell you, being a BREW foster dog is GREAT! I have had lots of great adventures since I got to my foster home a couple months ago. I marched in parades, and visited with other beagles, and even went to a HOWL-O-WEEN party just for us dogs! And guess what? I won (part of) first prize!!! Can you guess who I was? That's right: Tweedle Dum from Alice in Wonderland.

My favorite outing was BEAGLEFEST!! Did you meet me there? I was sure to greet you-- because I tried to meet every person and dog there. Check out the picture of me "helping" Foster Guy at the Raffle Table. And I got another prize for being in another costume. To tell you the truth, though, if I could just stay naked, that would be fine with me...

Foster mom says I should proudly tell you that I am doing very well in the house-training department. I’ve had only a couple accidents. At first, I tried to “mark” in the house, but I learned quickly that that was not a good idea. I do NOT like being in the crate! I would rather be where the action is. I do NOT go potty in my crate, but I get frustrated and can be destructive. I’m not proud to tell you that I have torn crate mats apart. Right now, foster mom does not think that I am “trust-worthy” with the run of the house when no one is home... so to the crate I go. But I think I could eventually learn to be good for short times when people aren’t home.

My other bad habit is ...digging in the yard. I just love to re-landscape! I respond when told to stop, and have even gotten the squirt bottle spray a couple times. It may take some effort to persuade me to give up my hobby, but I know I’m worth the effort.

I am a happy-go-lucky personality with affection for every person and dog I meet. I also love stuffed toys. And tug toys. And rawhide chewies. And treats. I guess you could say I’m a busy guy. I love leash walks, too! I get excited when the foster guy changes his shoes... ‘cuz that means it’s walkies time! I will do my business on lead, too. And did I tell you I'm smart? When I visited a friend's house, I figured out the doggie door in no time flat! Every day with me is a day filled with enthusiastic antics and fun. Even though I’m an energetic guy, I have a mellow personality. Aside from being put in the crate, nothing much rattles me. I am not aggressive or possessive or jealous or anything like that. And I’m not all action: let me tell you, when I am ready to settle, I’m a snuggly lap dog. Okay, I'm a HANDSOME, snuggly lap dog!

Although I am really enjoying my life in a foster home, what I really want is my OWN FAMILY. My wish would be for a mom or dad that is home most of the time... or who could take me with them most places. And if I had both a mom and a dad with me most of the time? Oh boy! I love children, but I'm not the best companion for very young ones. My enthusiastic nature would be overwhelming. BUT, I would be a wonderful friend for school-aged kids! I think I could just be their buddy for life!

Ben is a 2 year old neutered male that is very sweet and fairly low key. He is friendly and good with other dogs. He was a stray at Louisa County Animal Shelter so his history is unknown.
