Max, we will all miss you. Your beautiful face, your loving nature and your silly little ways. Max was the doggy dentist's best friend. He always kept his foster buddy's teeth clean. And, Max put the beagle in beagle - ha could do anything and go anywhere to get some food! Bye, Max....

Update 10/15/08:  Hi!  My name is Max.  I’ve been in my foster home for some time now, waiting for my forever family to find me.  I can’t quite understand what’s taking so long, and my foster human isn’t sure either.  That’s why I asked her to write this, because I wrote the last time, and it’s possible that my forever family doesn’t speak beagle.

OK, so, let’s see.  Let me tell you a bit about me.  I am a tri-color, but not the classic variety; I am liver, tan and white, with a reddish nose and that makes me different enough to stand out!  I am prone to barking, and I do pull a bit on leash, but hey, come on. I AM a beagle.  There are so many things to talk about and explore, I just can’t help myself.  But, if my forever family takes me to obedience classes, I can learn really fast, because I’m very smart, especially with the right motivation (FOOD).
Please don’t just look at my age it’s only a number!  I’m really pretty active.  Most people who meet me think I’m 6 or 7.  I thought about lying about my age, but decided that wasn’t the way to start a new relationship, so I’ll just tell you, you won’t believe I’m 10 if you meet me!
I am completely, totally, dependably housetrained.  My foster human doesn’t even have to crate me to help me remember, because I know that I am not supposed to go potty inside the house, no matter how long my foster human is at work.  I love the other dogs I live with, and I even like the cats.  Kids are pretty cool, too.
I do get creative trying to get to the kitchen and all that yummy food, so my foster human keeps a gate up to keep me out of the kitchen. I do like to see what’s on the counters, and I will take what I can reach, because, like I said before, I AM a beagle!  Oh yea, and I learned how to open the refrigerator, too!  (See, told you I’m smart, and that food is a good motivator)
I’m mellow, friendly, outgoing, happy, and I am a professional snuggler.  I do like to sleep in the big bed, but I can sleep on my own bed on the floor, too.  I am not exactly a couch potato, although I do like to hang out on the back of the couch…but I’m not high energy either.  Low-Middle of the road is my speed, or shall we just say “mellow”.  I’m not always-on-the-go like some hyperactive “kid”, but I do like to run with the big dogs in my fenced back yard.  If you’re looking for a jogging partner you should look at some of the other dogs on the site, that’s not for me, but…… I really enjoy walks – about a mile, at the most is really a good walk for me.

I like car rides and belly rubs, ear scratches, and TREATS.  I have had some issues with weight – back to that being a BEAGLE thing again – but it is under control now, and with proper attention from you, my forever family, I will keep my weight down.  When I came to BREW the first time I weighed 58lbs!  I could hardly walk, and everybody thought I was an old man.  Now I’m in the mid-30lbs, and they think I’m a youngster!
I would really like to have another dog to pal around with during the day while my forever family is at work, but I could do well as an only dog, too.
So, forever family, wherever you are, I’m here, waiting for you
