NEW: 1/12/2008 Henrietta: My foster mom has had some health issues so I’ve been hanging out and patiently waiting for her to get better.  Now 6 months later, she’s better and I’m ready to be adopted!  I use to freak out about everything when I came to stay with her.  After getting medicine for my hypothyroidism and having my foster mom show me what love is all about I am a changed dog.  I’m still shy but if you pet me and tell me what a pretty girl I am, I will be yours forever.  I do well with other dogs (I live with 3 other dogs right now), but I prefer to be by myself so I don’t miss out on any attention.  What can I say, I love to be loved!  So, what more can I tell you about me?  I am a couch potato and I LOVE food.  My foster mom thinks that food is the key to getting me out of my shell, but it’s hard when I have to compete with 3 other beagles to get food!

Foster Mom: I’ve had Henrietta, or Henry as I call her, for a year now.  Admittedly, her stay has been rather long, but due to no fault of her own.  Henry has been a blessing though, she came to my house right after Christmas last year and was the most shy dog I have ever known.  This past year, with the right meds, and lots of love and attention Henry has warmed up considerably.  The best home for her is one with no children under the age of 10.  She will retreat and hide when she is overwhelmed or there is a lot of noise/excitement.  Kids, by their very nature are just that, so a family with older kids is more suitable.  Typically, she’s a, take a nap all day type of dog, but boy, does she get excited when I come home at night and when it’s time to eat.  You would think she’s a different dog!  I can see her wanting to come out of her shell more, but living with 3 other very dominant dogs it’s hard to do in my house.  She is the sweetest dog and she is dying for the love of a wonderful family.  In the right environment, I have no doubt that she will blossom even more!
