I've Been Adopted!

UPDATE - 4 MARCH 2018 (from Sade's foster mom): When Sade came to her foster home, she hid for a few minutes and then staked out a spot on a doggy bed and watched the goings on. By the next day she was coming out of her shell. I think having the other dogs around and acting as guides helped her a lot. Now her tail is up an wagging. She comes to us for pets and cuddles and even presents her belly for rubs. Sade is one happy little girl. Sade spends the night quietly with foster brother Preacher in the kennel. Of course, she loves cookies and she eats her meals quickly. Since she got comfortable going outside, Sade hasn't had any accidents in the house. The cats are comfortable with Sade and she leaves them alone.

UPDATE - 27 FEBRUARY 2018: We have found a foster home for Sade, so stay tuned as we watch her real personality emerge!

INITIAL IMPRESSIONS: Sade is a 2 year old female beagle who recently had puppies and was dumped at a high kill shelter in southern West Virginia. She and her three puppies were going to be euthanized until another rescue group stepped in and saved them all. The three puppies have been adopted, but Sade is now with BREW and will be available for fostering or adoption once she is checked out by our vet. According to the other rescue, Sade was terrified when people came to see her (trembled and hid under a blanket), but she lit up when she was with other dogs and eventually got to the point where she would crawl into the shelter workers' laps and give little kisses.  She is a sweet girl who deserves to spend the rest of her life in a loving and safe home with humans who will give her lots of time to adjust.

Hi Roxann – Thank you for your interest in fostering Sade, but we have already found a foster home for her. If you would be interested in fostering other beagles for BREW, please fill out the fostering application at A link for the application can be found at the end of the narrative about fostering.

  2. We are very interested in adopting Sade, where is she? What shouls we do to bring her home? We are a 3 adult 2 dog home. The dogs are seniors one is 14 and one 13 – 14 . They are 55 and 80 pounds respectively . We lost our senior beagle and have enough room in our hearts for another. She can’t be replaced, but we would love to hear that beagle howl again. Sincerely, Chris Rogers

Hi Chris – Thank you for your interest in Sade. I see that you have already submitted an adoption application. That’s the first step. You will be assigned a volunteer who will contact you directly about our adoption process and Sade. We normally assign volunteers once a week, so please be patient if you don’t hear from someone right away. Sade is still going through some vetting, but we will know more about her availability in a week or so. We understand how hard it is to lose a beloved beagle, so thank you for thinking about opening your home to another beagle who needs a forever home.

  3. We would be interested in fostering Sade when she is available if possible.
