UPDATE - 4 MARCH 2018 (from Sade's foster mom): When Sade came to her foster home, she hid for a few minutes and then staked out a spot on a doggy bed and watched the goings on. By the next day she was coming out of her shell. I think having the other dogs around and acting as guides helped her a lot. Now her tail is up an wagging. She comes to us for pets and cuddles and even presents her belly for rubs. Sade is one happy little girl. Sade spends the night quietly with foster brother Preacher in the kennel. Of course, she loves cookies and she eats her meals quickly. Since she got comfortable going outside, Sade hasn't had any accidents in the house. The cats are comfortable with Sade and she leaves them alone.
UPDATE - 27 FEBRUARY 2018: We have found a foster home for Sade, so stay tuned as we watch her real personality emerge!
INITIAL IMPRESSIONS: Sade is a 2 year old female beagle who recently had puppies and was dumped at a high kill shelter in southern West Virginia. She and her three puppies were going to be euthanized until another rescue group stepped in and saved them all. The three puppies have been adopted, but Sade is now with BREW and will be available for fostering or adoption once she is checked out by our vet. According to the other rescue, Sade was terrified when people came to see her (trembled and hid under a blanket), but she lit up when she was with other dogs and eventually got to the point where she would crawl into the shelter workers' laps and give little kisses. She is a sweet girl who deserves to spend the rest of her life in a loving and safe home with humans who will give her lots of time to adjust.
