I've Been Adopted!

UPDATE - 18 JUNE 2017: Ruthie is having a great time with all the other dogs in her current foster home (see photo!), but she's still looking for a home of her own!

20 DECEMBER 2016: Ruth has been in our home a few weeks now and I am happy to say she is crate-trained and has more than a clue about housetraining. She has decided she wants to tell us when she wants to go outside and is thrilled when we shower praise upon her. She takes treats very gently and is a very polite girl. Ruth would prefer a home with a confident dog to show her the ropes of the house and to gain confidence from.

Ruthie continues to make a little progress every day, however she is still very shy. She wants to trust and get loved on but the world is still a very scary place for her. She is super sweet and is trying so hard, please stay tuned.

21 NOVEMBER 2016: Ruth has moved to a new foster home who is working with her on her shyness. She will be available soon!

28 OCTOBER 2016: Ruth is becoming more confident; she's approachable and friendly with me but needs to become more confident with other people. Ruth is looking for a foster home to continue working with her.

23 SEPTEMBER 2016: Ruth is now fully vetted and ready for her foster or forever home!

Original info: Ruth is a 2-year-old female beagle that is a little unsure about everything but is gaining a little confidence daily.  She does wag her tail when she sees me.  She gets along great and plays well with her kennel mate.  She was a stray at the Greene County Animal Shelter in Virginia, and her history is unknown.

  1. How much does Ruthie weigh and is she house trained yet? Thanks.

    • Janet

Hi Peggy. Ruthie weighs around 20-22 pounds and is currently in a foster home. She is a bashful girl. We should be getting an update from the foster family soon. If you are interested in adopting from BREW, please fill out the adoption application on our web site if you have not already done so.

  2. Is Ruth still available? Does she get along with cats?

Ruth is available. It is unknown at this time how she is with cats as her foster home does not have cats.
