I've Been Adopted!

30 JULY 2017: With his Twiggy-like physique, Agent 86 cunning, and a voice like Big Mama Thorton, Rebel is back to looking for his furever home. This is a dog who plays hard and sleeps hard; he would most likely benefit from the companionship of another playful dog or frequent doggy daycare visits. He loves hikes and new adventures.  Rebel is a brave little man, except when it comes to giving blood; a needle will cause him to shriek like I do when I see a mouse.

16 JULY 2017: Rebel is back with BREW and will be available for adoption after he takes care of some things at the vet. Stay tuned!

27 NOVEMBER 2016: Rebel made good use of the Thanksgiving holiday to conquer the jungle gym and the climbing wall at the local playground. Now he is so excited to go for a car ride and insists on sitting in the front seat!

21 NOVEMBER 2016: The election season got you down? Do you have high blood pressure? Maybe you have trouble sleeping. Rebel is the antidote for these and many maladies of modern day life. Good with cats, with kids, with other dogs. Rarely barks, laughs at all your jokes, extremely grateful for a little shut eye on the steering wheel at a red light! Rebel is an enthusiastic hiker, very well-mannered.  He will improve your life in every way!

14 NOVEMBER 2016: The perfect guest: loving, brave, calm, strong, sweet, that's Rebel! Goes poop and pee while on the leash, rides well in the car, friendly and playful with the other dogs. What more could you ask from this slightly built gentleman? Looking for someone who likes to cuddle. Special feature: his tail ends in an apostrophe!

Original info: Rebel is a little, 2-year-old beagle that weighs 14 pounds.  He is the offspring of Bonnie and Clyde and was an owner give up to the Amelia County Animal Shelter.  He is house-trained, playful, friendly, and gets along well with other dogs.  Rebel is now fully vetted and ready for his foster or forever home!

  1. I am sad to see Rebel back but know he is in great hands at BREW. Before Leo (formerly Leonidas) Rebel had my heart! I hope that he finds a loving home FOR GOOD as soon as possible. Still trying to convince my husband we should have at least 2 more dogs to love 🙂

Snuggles for Rebel as he looks for his new home!

  2. I am an approved foster for Beagle Rescue of MD. I am very interested in fostering Rebel with the intent to adopt. Let me know what steps I need to take and when he is available. Kathy Sniffen

Kathy, thank you for your interest in Rebel. He is already in a foster home. If you would like to foster for BREW, please complete an application.

  3. Ann

I’m very interested in Rebel. I’d like to meet him. Should I fill out an application or can I contact someone to meet him first. In in Hampton Roads area. Thank you!

Hello, Ann – in order to meet specific dogs, you need to begin the application process (details HERE). The other option would be to attend one of our adoption events (the next one is in Manassas on December 10th), but there is no guarantee that specific dogs will attend (or won’t have already been adopted). Please also note that applicants are expected to travel to meet any BREW dogs (once into the application process), and most are in the Northern VA/MD/Washington DC area (including Rebel), with a few in DE/eastern PA. Thank you for asking and for your interest in adoption!

  4. would like to know how to adopt dog and where phone number etc

    • Erin

Hello, Wayne – we are a volunteer-run organization and do not have a physical location (apart from mailbox) or phone number. All of our dogs are in foster homes or boarded. We are based out of northern Virginia and typically work with adopters in and around the Washington DC/Philadelphia corridor in VA, DC, MD, WV, PA, and DE. Our adoption process includes an application, which can be filled out online or at one of our adoption events, which are primarily in northern Virginia. The application is followed by an interview, vet check, and home check. You can learn more about the process by clicking HERE. Events are listed HERE. Thank you for your interest!

  5. What is the height of Rebel???? Would he get along with an older (12) female beagle??? Thanks.

    • Erin

Hi, Frances – Rebel is another of our beagles who is at the kennel awaiting a foster home, so we do not have further details on him at this time. At just 14 pounds, he is certainly not very tall, though!
