UPDATE - 12 MAY 2018: Preacher is a really good, sweet boy (well except for using the cat door!). He has calmed down since coming to his foster home, and has a nice energy. We’ve started to work more on his manners. He is starting to understand “off” when it is time for a cookie – but its hard when he sees that cookie in my hand.
UPDATE - 25 MARCH 2018: A quick new tidbit on Preacher - he learned that he fits through the cat door. And if he times it right he can climb the cat tree and get a taste of cat food! I guess I shouldn't be surprised - he is a beagle after all. We've discovered that he really loves being with people and other dogs and now that he knows more about how things work, he whines a bit at first when he is kenneled at night. Luckily for us he isn't loud. Preacher would probably do best in a home that has another dog.
UPDATE - 4 MARCH 2018 (from Preacher's foster mom): Preacher is a wonderful boy, if a bit exuberant. He gets along with the other dogs and enjoys exploring the yard. Preacher likes to cuddle and is very loving. He isn't big in the manners department - but I'm sure he'll learn. I think he is super excited to be part of a family! He settles down nicely for naps, so he isn't always moving. Preacher loves toys - as soon as I get them back in the toy box they come out again. In the morning, he loves to jump up into the bed to visit. But he doesn't jump onto the couch, he steps up onto it. Funny boy. Other Preacher facts - he eats super fast and, happily, is house trained.
UPDATE - 27 FEBRUARY 2018: We have found a foster home from Preacher, so stay tuned as we learn more about this friendly guy!
INITIAL IMPRESSIONS: Preacher is a 4 year old neutered male who is now fully vetted and available for fostering or adoption. Preacher was an owner give up by a hunter due to his inability to care for him properly. He is very sweet, friendly and food motivated but will need some training as he was a hunting dog and doesn't know anything about being a pet.
