I've Been Adopted!

Gender: Female
Age: 2-3

New!!

FROM: Polly
TO: Everyone
I am settling into my new foster home. I slept for the first afternoon and evening, then I slept through the adoption day. If someone would come to see me, when they started to pet me, I would rollover give them my belly to rub and go back to sleep. Sunday, I played for about 15 minutes and then ran back inside to sleep some more. Please realize that being a beagle, I would always wake up for meals. I like my food, but am a little picky about treats. I don’t sleep so much now, I’m about recovered from my spaying and my trip to Delaware. Nana finds all the dog toys on her bed. I don’t play with them, I just like to collect them.
Monday, the girls came to walk me and brought Michael. I do well with children. They just loved me and came back again Tuesday for more walking. I like the walks, but on Monday Buster saw a rabbit and started such a racket, I was scared. I had to be carried for a while until things calmed down. It’s not so bad, because I’m a small beagle. When we got home, I grabbed my rawhide chew and went running to hide it. Everyone laughed because they all could see where I was hiding it.
I am a little shy, but not for long. I will sleep in the crate next to the bed and be content, but I prefer to be close to a human. I have used the “potty patch” and gone outside. I have never messed the floor here, Nana said I was a good girl. I like to snuggle with one person at a time and am curious about where everyone is in the house. I like to keep up.

Polly is becomming less timid. She is still very shy around people(especially men) who make a lot of noise. People yelling at the football game, greeting friends too loudly scares her. She gets along well with children, teens and women, but she is very cautious around men. While she is mostly house broken, she will sometimes wet if scared. We went to the dog park and she met other dogs and some men(we took kids and women with us) and she did well. She was willing to greet everyone, but cautiously.

Polly is so sweet. She will need another dog(alpha type) who likes to play and keep her out of trouble and show her the ropes. We had Shirley here until she was adopted. Polly misses her even though we have 2 other older beagles. The older beagles don’t play enough for her taste. She will sit in front of them and bark like “don’t you know it’s play time? Get up couch potato.” If Polly is well exercised, she stays out of trouble.. If not, she likes to chew. I give her kongs with peanut butter or rawhide chews, if I’m going out. Polly likes to snuggle and give kisses. She likes to steal all the toys. When I wash the dog toys and take them out of the dryer, I just toss them on the floor. Polly comes and retrieves them. She is a sweetheart who needs a patient, gentle and loving person. She has never had any agression issues; she knows how to sit; sit up to beg; and she has a lot of love to give to the right human.

I was just wondering how Polly is doing now that she had been in foster care for another month? Does she do good when you are gone at work or store? Is she fully house trained?

    Thank you!
