I've Been Adopted!

UPDATE - 15 JULY 2018:  Nebula (Nellie) was adopted and returned again. Again, it was her puppy energy. We now know she won’t do well in a home without a good sized yard that will allow her to run and stretch her legs. Nellie just has too much puppy energy to be contained! At her foster home she does great. Being able to run around the yard allows her to be calm in the house. Squirrels can really get Nellie running. When she sees them she jumps around begging to go outside. She loves walks in the park, but I understand she wasn’t too fond of city traffic and noise. Nellie is comfortable greeting strangers. When relaxing at home, Nellie loves to cuddle. We had been keeping her in a kennel overnight, but the last two nights (since her return) she has slept in the bedroom. We don’t have house training issues, but we do let her outside a lot. It seems she likes company, so she probably shouldn’t have a lot of alone time or should have a buddy dog for company. Nellie is a wonderful girl, she just needs the right environment!

If you can access Facebook, check out this video that shows how much Nellie loves to run!

UPDATE - 1 JULY 2018: Nebula was adopted, but it looks like her young energy was a little too much for the older resident beagle. Nebula is a beautiful girl, so we hope we can find her a new home quickly. She is back with her original foster family.

NEW - 8 JUNE 2018: Nebula is an adorable 2-year-old beagle girl who weighs 22 pounds. She’s super sweet, playful and does well with other dogs. She was a stray at the Abingdon Animal Shelter in Virginia, so her history is unknown.

  1. We have a 12 year old beagle we adopted from the Howard County animal shelter about 10 years ago. We would like to find a companion for Mollie. We are on vacation in NH at present but my daughter was at one of your events in the past few days. She loved all the dogs, but thinks Nebula would be perfect for us. We will be back in Maryland on July 1 and would love to see her. Where will she be around Julie 4? Is she house broken ?

Hi Henry – Thank you for your interest in Nebula. She has had quite a bit of interest, and we expect her to be adopted this week. I’m so sorry she is no longer available, but we have many more beagles needing homes and many more still coming to us! If you are interested in possibly adopting any of our beagles, we will need you to fill out an application so we can assign a volunteer to work with you directly. You can find our policies and application at the following web site: We hope to hear from you when you return from your trip!
