I've Been Adopted!

UPDATE - 9 JULY 2015: Micky is now fully vetted, and he is being fostered in his kennel caretaker's home. He is crate-trained and only has accidents in the house if he's not taken out.  While he is still afraid of people, he gets along great and plays with the other dogs in the house.

First impressions: Micky is a shy, approximately 1-year-old beagle boy who will be available for adoption after his vetting is completed and he has gotten a bit more socialization. He is one of three very small males (10-11 pounds) who recently came to BREW from King George County, Virginia.  They were strays who wandered onto a farm and were so hungry they were trying to catch chickens. Micky could not be caught by hand and had to be trapped. The boys' nails were long, and they preferred to lay on the grate at the shelter, so we suspect they were kept in a cage off the ground. We are hopeful that Micky will not take too long to come around!

  1. My husband and I are looking to adopt a beagle. We had 2 female beagles, and had to put one to sleep about 2 weeks ago due to health reasons. We had gotten her from a family who no longer wanted to take care of her. It was a good day for us. We now have only Rosie, who is about 8 1/2 years. We had also gotten her from a rescue. She is missing (Patch) our other dog we had put to sleep. We are looking for a new friend for her. I was taken in by Mickey as he looked so sad and though we could help and give him a home. If he is unable, we are also interested in Minnie, and Ceecee. We are searching your site after several recommendations that this would be a good place to look. Looking forward to your comment. Thank you for your time.
