UPDATE - 17 MARCH 2018: Max went off to his new foster home today where he will get a chance to have some fun with his foster brother, Beauregard. Stay tuned for updates as we see how this handsome boy does in his new environment.
INITIAL IMPRESSIONS: Max has come to BREW after being rescued by a kind woman near Norfolk, Virginia, after she found out Max was going to be euthanized by a hunter because Max would not hunt. Max is just a big lovable hound puppy that has gangling legs and beautiful soft fur. He is larger than most of our BREW dogs (36 pounds of puppy!) - might have some foxhound in him. While Max was living with the woman and her family, he got along great with the young children and cats who also lived there. Unfortunately, there was a pit bull in the home who wasn't fond of Max, so we took him in at BREW. During the long drive to the vet, Max rode in the car very well. He was a little shy at first, but he was giving the driver kisses on the face within 5 minutes of getting into the car. He also gave lots of kisses to the vet techs when he arrived at the vet. Max is still a little uncertain about what is going on, but he will come around once he can settle down somewhere. Max would do well with a family who is willing to take the time to train him to control his puppy energy. After he finishes his vetting, he will be available for fostering or adoption.
