I've Been Adopted !

Age: 5-6 years

Gender: Male

7/15:  Jake is a very happy boy if his tail waggles and body wiggles are a good indicator.  He loves to be talked to and, of course, he loves pets.  When he came to his foster home a week ago, he merged easily into the pack.  Jake respects the pack leader and is easy with the other dogs, but if one of them is annoying him (like trying to play when he rather keep getting pets) he just does the “no” growl and all is well.  His first day here he was trying to mark everywhere, but attention and a lot of no’s seemed to stop that from continuing.  Beyond that, no accidents in the house.  He hasn’t been vocal.  And, get this, he is a slow eater!  But he is definitely a beagle!

Jake does have an allergic reaction that seems to be clearing up.  He has a couple of naked patches on his skin – from him scratching and some stained fur (saliva will turn white fur a rust color) also from the biting-scratching.  But this appears to be quickly clearing up and his scratching has almost stopped.  It is likely something in the kennel environment or the food he was eating caused the allergy.  Now is a home and on a fish and potato kibble (used because a resident dog has allergies) which seems to be doing the trick.

Jake is 5-6yr old neutered, fully vetted male beagle that is Mister Personality!!! He loves the camera!!! This handsome little show-off loves to play and is good with other dogs. He was an owner give-up because "he wouldn't hunt rabbits right".

Hooray for Jake – what great news! Just checking this morning on my favorite beagles needing foster homes to see if they found one. This makes my week. Thanks Phyllis – another beagle boy on his way to a forever home.

Hoping Jake gets into a foster home soon so we can learn more about him. He is so adorable and has such a handsome face.

Sorry, Jake won’t be there but several others will be. They are listed on this web-site. The adoption day is July 9th from 12-4PM

Where are you in MD? The adoption day at the PetCo in Newark, DE is just off I-95 at Christiana Mall.

  9. Can you tell me about how big Jake is? I am looking for a smaller beagle but Jake sure is cute. Are there more dogs in the pipeline and are there any plans to have some dogs in MD somewhere?

Sorry for all of the questions. Thanks.

  10. Can you tell us more about Jake now that he’s been in your program a bit? As a former hunting dog, is he averse to cats? Like houses? A good candidate for a working Mom if he has a friend to snuggle with during the work day? Thank you, Christy

Well I just wish I were in a position to foster or adopt you, Mr. Jake! My Cori girl could certainly show you a thing or two about chasing bunnies! Ii don’t know if she’s ever been on an official hunt, but she sure knows how to go after ’em in our backyard. Good luck getting your new home!
