I've Been Adopted!
11/7: Howie is a love and a fickle boy. When he first came to us, he was nervous about getting close and being carried or held. Now, he loves to cuddle, but on his terms. He doesn’t like it when he is being petted or cuddled to closely – such as your face in his face, unless of course it is his idea. When he is uncomfortable he will make little moans and groans. Many times they fade away as he gets comfortable – this is generally accompanied by a slow closing of the eyes. But other times he gets upset, barks a bit and squirms away. He loves to run up to one of us and give us several kisses on our face – often he will then settle down next to us. He is more comfortable with close cuddling if the other dogs are involved. He is slowly, slowly shrinking his comfort zone.
Howie also seems to think that Howie, Howie, Howie means show me your belly. He will do it over and over – probably because he gets belly rubs each time!
Howie is super playful. He and foster brother Hershey spend a lot of time chasing each other around the yard, wrestling and playing with toys. Howie also get along well with the other dogs in the house and is very respectful toward the alpha female in the house.
Howie loves meal time, walks, treats, playing, meal time, Hershey (another Brew foster), treats. You get the picture. He has learned to sit for treats, but mealtimes still get him to do the wiggle dance. Howie loves food so much he even steals the koi food from the fish pond (see video clip).
Howie isn’t a barky boy. He does bark when he wants in from outside or if one of the other dogs is becoming pesky, and sometimes joins in if the others get going. But he can explore all the smells outside without letting us (and everyone else) know when he finds a smell.
Other good things about Howie – he is housetrained, isn’t destructive, and is gorgeous!
Check out Howie and his buddy Hershey playing. Hershey appears first - he's the black and brown boy. Howie is the freckled dude!
