UPDATE - 25 FEBRUARY 2018: The vet advised that Gus could stand to gain two pounds which would put him up to 18 pounds. He is a happy little armful who is not shy to let you know how he feels by barking or crying, especially when it's time to eat or time to come in. His housetraining is excellent. Gus loves everybody and children most of all. He walks quietly on the leash and will be at his best with another dog to live with.
UPDATE - 18 FEBRUARY 2018 (from Gus's foster family): Gus is a slight, quiet gentleman with gorgeous almond shaped eyes. He gets along well with other dogs and all kinds of people, seeking out contact eagerly. Gus seems to be more of a follower than a leader when among other dogs; he is courteous and shares his food bowl without complaint with his foster girl, Lulu. Gus will go potty while on the leash and he is making strides on housetraining. He adores being cuddled, making a little purring noise at the back of his throat while he nestles in your arms, or kissing softly. Gus loves to dive into a doggie bed and roll around. Cold weather and wet ground are not cool with Gus; he will hold his feet in the air to make the point that he finds it uncomfortable. He enjoys hiking and exploring when the weather is fine!
UPDATE - 17 FEBRUARY 2018: Gus had a fun time at our adoption event today. He is a little guy and incredibly cute! He loved being cuddled and gave lots of kisses to all his new people friends. We all wanted to take him home! Gus is now in a foster home, so stay tuned as we learn more about how he does as a house dog. Check out Gus's new picture from the first night in his foster home (snuggling with foster sister Lulu).
UPDATE - 24 JANUARY 2018: Gus has completed his vetting process and is now available for fostering or adoption.
INITIAL IMPRESSIONS: Gus is a 4 year old beagle boy. He’s a little fellow that is friendly and good with other dogs. He was a stray in Madison County in Virginia so his is history unknown. He will be available soon for fostering or adoption.
