I've Been Adopted!Dexter 2

Age: 1-2 years

Gender: Male

NEW!!   Dexter is a very fun little dog.  He gets along great with other dogs and enjoys going to the dog park so he can run around.  Being a young dog, he LOVES to play with toys and has a very hard time walking by one with out picking it up to carry it around, even during his walks.  He gets along very well with children as well and plays nicely with them without jumping up.  He is doing very well with his house training and also goes eagerly into a crate and keeps it clean and dry.  He is a easy going dog and doesn't mind being fed with other dogs and shares his toys with them too.  He is very quiet and would do well in either a house or an apartment.  Even though he loves to play with his foster brothers he would do just as well in a home without other dogs as he is a social little guy and likes to play with humans just as much.  Dexter does play pretty hard, but he also sees the value in a good long nap on a soft bed.

First Impressions: Dexter rode very well in his crate for 5 hours.  He just curled up and slept the entire way and he left his crate clean and dry!

Dexter (a.k.a. Dex) is a small, young beagle boy who is coming to BREW this weekend (2 November 2013) from Bedford County, Virginia. He is very sweet and weighs about 25 pounds. Dexter was originally found as a stray with another beagle (a senior female the finder decided to keep), and his history is unknown. Dexter will be fully vetted soon, and we will know more about him once he is in a foster home.

    Hi there,
I know the ad says he will be available soon, but honestly he is exactly what I am looking for! I need a companion for my rural home that I can have indoors. It is important to me that the pet I choose be loving but independent should I have to leave. I like the idea of a beagle because family of mine who have had them in the past state they are very loving but if trained properly will be content to lay down in a crate if need be. I do not anticipate being away from the home much, but when I do, I would prefer to be able to leave them happily in a crate for an hour or 2 OR have them ride well in my car or go on excursions with me. Dexter sounds just right for what I am looking for and he is old enough to have some manners but still young enough to adjust nicely. I would like to talk to you about him if possible and arrange a meeting. I have no other pets but live in a rural area on a private 5 acres in King & Queen VA.

Hi, Jacki – not sure if you still need this information, but the first steps toward adopting any BREW beagle are to fill out an application and pay the application fee. You can learn more about the process and find a link to the application here Thanks for your interest!
