Daisy; The dearest dog

Published: May 24, 2016

Daisy was my dearest friend, Scout Dog and Trail Dog. For 11 years we walked the wooded trails, fields and along the streams of Central Maryland, Baltimore and Harford Counties.

On March 22, 2016 Daisy took the trail that I can not follow yet, a trail that I would have traveled with her if allowed. My pain and sorrow has eased from the first days and weeks, but as I look at her photos and harness, I ask...how did this happened...why did it happen, what could I have done better.

There comes no answer, but I look at her pictures again and find solace in sweet memories of my dearest dog, my Scout, my Trail Dog Daisy.

  1. I am terribly sorry about your loss. I lost my beloved Duke and Dora at age 11, within 3 months of each other. It was much too soon. They were from different breeders but both died suddenly with no warning signs detected by my family or the vets. All that to say, I understand your pain and wish you comfort knowing that your Daisy knew you loved her. Scouting with her human was surely one of the many delights and comforts in her life thanks to your companionship! May your heart heal and be filled with many found memories shared with her over the years. Mindy

Thank you so much for your response Mindy and sharing your story of Dixie and Dora.
I haven’t been back to this site since I posted the tribute.
The fond memories are much more often now and the pain of Daisys loss is lessened.
      I will get another Beagle.
      All the best to you.
