Reese (like the candy) is a good looking copper-nosed beagle. He’s about 3 years old and weighs a slim 22 pounds.
His owner’s health took a down turn and she could no longer care for Reese. A Vet took Reese to live with her and her pack of beagles, but her dogs did not like Reese. They were attacking him. It wasn’t him. He’s housetrained and confirmed fine with dogs. Does great with the 70 lb lab he’s hanging out with now. He wasn’t getting along with the other dogs he was in with at the home who had him — they were beating him up.
He curled up in his crate and slept the entire trip from Morgantown. 3 1/2 hours and not a sound. He was eager to get both in and out of his crate.
He’s playful. Not really a chewer. He is obsessed with tennis balls!!! He didn’t seem to mind the cat a the vet clinic. He’s loving — really likes to curl up on your lap to watch movies I’m told. He’s fine on a leash for walks.

Hot Rod is a new member of the BREW pack. He came to us from the Planned Pethood shelter in Rocky Mount, Virginia. Hot Rod is a little guy who weighs in at a solid 22 pounds. He is very energetic (of course he’s been living in a crate!) as can be expected of a 1 year young beagle. He loves people and seems OK with big dogs. He met a Cane Corso at the vet’s office (who had to outweigh him by 60 pounds) and they got along fine. He is fully vetted.

Lexi is a 1 to 1 ½ year old spayed tri-color female beagle. She is a sweet and lovable little girl who is full of energy. She spent 6 months in a shelter before coming to her foster home and has been there about one month where she is doing very well. She did come with very dry skin, but since she has been on a better diet it has all, but cleared up. She appears to have a spring allergy; she coughs and sneezes a bit, but medication seems to have taken care of this as well. The first few days she had a hard time with potty training, but once she got the idea she has been perfect.
She has learned to use a doggie door and goes in and out to a fenced backyard when need be, but prefers to be around someone. Loves to play, but she can play rough barking and nipping at your hands and face. For this reason I don’t think she would be good in a house with small children. She will lie quietly when no one has time to give her attention, but is ready to go at the drop of hat when you’re ready to play or go for a walk. When going for a walk it is tail up and nose to the ground in true beagle style. She can get aggressive while walking, barking and pulling when another dog/ animals come in site. I have not yet socialized her with other dogs, so I can’t say how she would react in close proximity with another dog. She does bark at just about anything that moves out doors. She has separation anxiety when left at home or in the car, but calms down in a couple of minutes.
Lexi likes to ride in the car with her noise out the window from time to time to get some fresh air. At bedtime she wants to be in bed with you and prefers to sleep covered up. During the night she will come out from under the covers and a little later goes back under, sometimes she just pokes her head out and looks just like a person sleeping in bed. She does like to tear up tissues and cardboard from trash cans.

Little Update: Chloe is the opposite of a bagel – a long-legged beagle (a Lleagle, if you will): very sweet; quiet & calm, if a bit skittish at first; TOTALLY housetrained; walks on a leash; NOT food-obsessed). See the new gallery picture to view her long legs (she could be a model!)
Chloe is the sweetest, most beautiful beagle ever. She loves other dogs. Chloe is skittish with new people, loud noises, thunderstorms and rain – they make her shake. She is not food aggressive at all. She is a low maintenance girl! Chloe is a little camera shy, so understand that she is prettier than her pictures can show!

NEW FROM FOSTER: Copper has been with us for a few months now. He is an affectionate, cute, beagle boy. Copper weighs about 21 pounds and is a pretty small guy. He has a clue about housetraining. He had an accident when he drank a lot of water and stood by the door waiting to be taken out, but we weren’t paying attention. Copper loves to chew on dog toys including nylabones and kongs. He especially loves pig ears. When we go for walks, he pulls a bit on the leash, but not too much. He lets big dogs and small dogs sniff him and gets along with other dogs. Copper also has some puppy playfulness in him. He gets very excited when we come home from work. He will jump around and circles and hop up and down. Eventually, he will calm down and find a nice, soft dog bed to sleep in.
We crate Copper during the work day, but I think Copper would be fine having run of the house. As with most beagles, Copper loves food. He has also learned to sit for a treat and take it gently from you. He loves to be pet. He will sit next to you and let you pet him and rub his belly. If you stop petting him, he will nudge your hand to continue. Copper gets along with the resident beagle and pretty much ignores the cats. If you’re looking for a loveable, cuddle-bug who will curl up on the sofa beside you or snuggle with you, Copper could be your buddy.
