I’ve Been Adopted!

Age: 2-3 years

Gender: Female

From foster mom: Bonnet is shy and enjoys being in her crate with the gate open.  She feels safer
there.  She is house broken.

Bonnet is new to BREW.  She came in with her 2 puppies (Cheech & Chong) from Pulaski County Virginia.  She was a stray there, but mom and pups were fostered by a volunteer there for the 12 weeks between birth and BREW.

Gender: Male

Chong is a 12 week old puppy (as of 3/30) who came in with his mom (Bonnet) and Brother (Cheech).  Mom was a stray in Pulaski County Virginia so we don’t know much about them.

I’ve Been Adopted!

Age:  5 years

Gender: Female

Ginger is a 5-year old recently spayed female red-and-white beagle.  She is a petite (15-18lb, at a guess) little girl who was an owner-surrender (due to allergies in the household) to a no-kill shelter.  While they felt that they could have placed her, she was so stressed in the shelter that the shelter manager felt that getting her out of the shelter and into a home (foster or permanent) was urgent. She was an only-dog in a one-dog, one-cat, two-toddler household. She is slightly underweight,but only by about pound, which doesn’t sound like much until you look at that as a percentage of her body weight.  She was so stressed out at being in the shelter-environment that she probably wasn’t eating much. According to the surrender information she is housetrained, and based on the evidence so far in her foster home, that appears to be correct. Given how she lit up as kids approached when out walking, and the fact that she lived with two toddlers, she would be fine in a family with children, although she is prone to jumping up and licking. She barks when her people leave the house and gets into the trash if allowed free roam, but that isn’t anything uncommon for most dogs. Ginger will willingly crate for meals, bedtime and when the other dogs in her foster home are crated when her foster-family is leaving, although when she first arrived at her foster home she resisted the first few times. She rides well (tethered) in the car. No excessive salivating, whining or barfing, and she did not get frantic when left in the car for a few minutes. Ginger will join her foster family on the couch or bed for snuggles, but seems to prefer her own bed for actual sleeping, but since she’s only been in her foster home since Saturday (03/23), that may change. Ginger was ready to greet one and all as we walked to the local pet-supply store where some of the pictures were taken. She met all of the dogs at her foster home (male, female, large and small) with some caution but no real fear and absolutely no sign of aggression. So, if you are looking for a sweet, petite red-and-white beagle girl, contact B.R.E.W. and ask them to set you up with Miss. Ginger!
