I've Been Adopted!Buck

Age: 5-6 years

Gender: Male

UPDATE - 23 JULY 2014: Buck wants to know why he hasn't been adopted yet! Maybe it's because he's a little older than some of the beagles here? But that shouldn't mean he can't go to a nice home. He's a very sweet boy. Buck loves to go for walks. Sometimes he will pull on his leash, but that is because he is so excited to be outside, sniffing the ground or meeting other dogs. Buck also LOVES to be pet. He will sit by your side while you pet his head. If you stop, he'll nuzzle against you or try to climb into your lap. Buck is great in his crate. We've never heard a peep from him in there. He loves to just snooze in his crate. Buck is practically housetrained. He hasn't had an accident in two months. Buck has been a very good houseguest. I think, though, that Buck would love to find his forever home!

10 MARCH 2014: Meet Buck! He is a mellow fellow and all around nice boy. Buck, known as Bucky, joined our household two weeks ago and has been a perfect gentleman. He walks very nicely on leash. Sometimes he’ll get excited if he catches a scent or sees another dog that he wants to say hi to. Generally, he’ll just follow along to where you want to go.

Buck seems to have a clue about house training. He tried to mark the first day in our house, but hasn’t done that since. He is fine in his crate and considers it his den. Sometimes he’ll bring all his stuffed toys into his crate and sleep with them. Bucky knows how to take a treat gently from your hands. He was also very patient and let me clean his ears, bathe him and cut his nails, all without a peep.

He gets along with our cats and pretty much ignores them. Buck likes being around humans. He will follow wherever the humans go and sit patiently for us to pet him or rub his ears. But Buck is also fine just hanging out in a dog bed or his crate and snoozing or playing with a stuffed toy. We took Buck on a trip to New York City and he was fine with all the people and city noises. He even enjoyed watching ice hockey at Bryant Park. I think Buck would make a great addition to a household looking for a sweet, easygoing beagle.

Original information: Buck came to BREW from Madison County, VA, where he was found as a stray. He is very sweet and low key, and does well with other dogs. We're still getting to know him, but Buck's recent weekend transporter reports that he is a vocal guy. Stay tuned for more info!

How is he around kids? My youngest is 6 and a half and my oldest is 12. Would love to meet him!

I will check with his foster family and get back to you. Thanks!

    • Erin

Hi, Marie – Buck’s foster mom says “I don’t have kids. He has let kids pet him and there doesn’t seem to be any issues.” Approved applicants can make arrangements to meet specific dogs, and we also hold periodic events (posted HERE). If you’d like more information on BREW’s application process, please take a look at THIS page. Thanks for your interest!

  3. Buck sounds like he would be perfect for me and my wife! Is he available for adoption?

    • Laura w/ BREW

Doug, Buck is avaiable, yes. I would recommend that you submit an adoption application on our website. That will get the process moving. Thanks and let me know if you have other questions.

I am very interested in Buck. Is there any way to speak with the foster family to get more info about him?

    • ErinS

Hi, Lindsey – Buck won’t be at tomorrow’s BREW event, but BREW can make arrangements with approved applicants to talk to foster families and meet specific dogs outside of events. You can find information about BREW’s application and adoption process HERE. Thank you for your interest!

  6. Buck sounds like he would be a good match for our female Kayle, We need a submissive low key Beagle, that would not be a fence climber. Please keep us informed about his progress and availability. Thank you Christine
