Adoption Pending!

UPDATE - 24 JANUARY 2018 (from Boomer's foster family): Boomer is very friendly and affectionate and wants to greet every person and dog he sees. He gets sad (and whimpers) if someone passes without saying hello. Boomer walks pretty well on leash (he sniffs and pulls at times like a typical beagle), and really loves romping through the woods (on and off trail--always on leash). He has a great singing voice, and beagles loudly in the woods when he is on a scent trail. He loves walks when the weather is nice (on super cold or snowy days he just wants to do his business and get back to his comfy bed). Around the neighborhood he is somewhat interested in squirrels and will chase them around trees (see pics), but isn't obsessed.

Boomer would love a family that can give him a lot of attention and wants his affection. He is often quiet, but can live up to his name if he wants attention and isn't getting it. He likes to have his pack together.

UPDATE - 13 JANUARY 2018: Boomer just went to his new foster home, so we will be learning more about him soon!

INITIAL IMPRESSIONS: Boomer is a 3 year old neutered male who is now fully vetted and ready for a new beginning. He is friendly, fairly low key and quiet despite his name. He was a stray at the Louisa County Animal Shelter in Virginia, so his history is unknown. Boomer is available for fostering or adoption.

  1. Hello! My name is Tessa and my fiance, Ben, and I are very interested in adopting Boomer to accompany our 2 year old beagle mix. We are located in Arlington, VA. Our dog is very mellow an would get along very well with another laid-back, easy-going dog. When would we be able to meet Boomer (and also have our dog meet him)? Since Boomer is currently being fostered, would he be at any of the upcoming adoption events? Also, are you aware if he is housebroken or not?
    Thank you so much!

Hi Tessa – We just posted an update on Boomer from his foster family. He is coming along very well with his housetraining. I don’t know that he is completely housebroken, but he does potty when on a leash. In order to meet Boomer, we would need you to fill out a BREW application at (it’s best to pay the fee through PayPal). Once we receive your application and fee, one of our volunteers will contact you directly to go over your application and provide more details on Boomer and our adoption process. Boomer is currently located in Alexandria, VA, so he is likely to come to the next adoption day on Feb 17th in Manassas if he hasn’t been adopted by then.
