UPDATE - 9 JULY 2018: Al has been in his foster home for a week and is doing great. He's been going on long walks in the woods - he is a nice walker staying to the path and not trying to follow each deer trail we pass. Last night Al was allowed to sleep overnight in the bedroom for the first time since arriving. When he put his paws on the side of the bed and looked up at me, I had to let him up. And he proceeded to snuggle up to me and fall asleep. He didn't even rise as the breakfast doggy bowls started clattering. Wow. Maybe he likes cuddling more than food? Al has a nice energy level - not a couch potato but not crazy active either. His eye is healing nicely and he doesn't let it slow him down. After all, he's got that beagle nose!
NEW - 1 JULY 2018: Al is a cute little 22 pound beagle boy who is 6-7 years old. Al and Adde arrived together as strays at the Wythe County, VA, shelter. Al wasn’t in great shape when he arrived at the shelter but some vet care has done wonders. He did lose his left eye (which is still healing), but that hasn’t stopped him from enjoying life. He has been at his foster home less than a day, but Al seems to be very happy finding himself to now be a house beagle. He enjoys exploring the yard and napping on the couch. And he loves to cuddle and give kisses. Al does well with the other dogs and isn’t interested in the cats. Al and Adde spent a quiet first night in the kennel.
