Hello! My name is Ellen McManus. I am 9 years old, going on 10. I would like to introduce you to my pet beagle, Annette McManus. We got her about 4 months ago in August. She was living with 2 other beagles at the time, but she didn't seem to mind leaving them. She happily came home with us and became our newest family member!
She has been a great dog ever since except for the fact that she has been going to the bathroom on our rug. We think she is doing it on purpose because she is not used to our house yet, but we don't know for sure. And luckily the last time she did it was at Thanksgiving. Finally, we hope, she has gotten out of the habit.
She is a very affectionate dog who loves to have her belly rubbed! When she is in big trouble she will lie down on her side for a tummy rub. You can't resist petting her and forgiving her. It is impossible when you're looking into her big brown eyes. Just impossible.
Annette has had many experiences slipping out of her collar when it is too loose. She is a very fast runner. Annette has gotten away many times and throughout all of them this was definitely the worst. One morning when my 13 year old brother had opened the door too wide on his way to school Annette zipped out right beside him. And once she is out it is unbelievably hard to get her back in. We spent about 1 hour looking for her before my mother had to go out with a cupcake, venturing through people's backyards and looking for Annette. After finding her and getting her home safely, we were already 1 hour late for school. But we were very, very happy to have her back!
